It helps you gain body awareness at a challenging time of many changes. Body awareness prevents injury and promotes postpartum recovery. Pilates builds strength and maintains fitness during pregnancy. It helps prepare mothers for the demands of labor, delivery and the postpartum. Breathing, stretching and relaxation techniques can be fabulous tools for life as well as during labor. Exercise during pregnancy lowers risks of pathology such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, depression and anxiety.
Prenatal exercise classes elevate our mood, promote better sleep and help us forge relationships with other women embarking on similar journeys though motherhood. In this class we tackle common pregnancy aches and pains and work on individual strategies for keeping strong, comfortable and safe. We use a range of props and the Pilates Spring Walls to add variety to our exercise program and to promote good body mechanics and posture. It’s never too late or too early in the pregnancy to begin prenatal exercise and we can learn so much from each other and our individual challenges.
