Wednesday, 6.15 to 7.15 pm pilates on the mat, 7.15-8.15 pm Pilates Wall, Lugano South.
We added not one but two Pilates classes with Alexi on Wednesday evening.
The first one will be on the mat, in the second one we will use the Pilates Wall machines of Yoga Roof.
Alexi grew up dancing in the UK, moved to the US for college and after a sports injury damaged her back began using Pilates to heal herself and others. She is a fully certified STOTT Pilates instructor (mat, reformer and other equipment) and is always looking to learn about movement for different bodies and goals. In the last ten years she has picked up a range of specialties and experience that can meet an individual’s needs; be it better glute activation or a better golf swing! Alexi is happy to collaborate with other professionals to help recovery after an injury (for example collaborating with a physiotherapist after a surgery).
Alexi is trained to use a variety of Pilates equipment both for group classes and for personal training. She teaches group classes and privates at Yoga Roof Centro and Sud, teaches from her home in Montagnola (where she has a reformer and other Pilates equipment) and is available to come to your home or office for private or small group classes. While living in Michigan she was as a Lecturer in the Dance Department at Eastern Michigan University, taught at the University of Michigan, Willow Wellness Studio and the Ann Arbor YMCA. For the last three years she has been working with teenagers at TASIS (the American School in Switzerland).
She has a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a specialist certification for working with Prenatal and Postnatal Women. For many years Alexihas been involved in research into the health and wellness of mothers and infants. She loves seeing the ways in which Pilates helps mothers redevelop their strengths, play and bond with their babies and build a community with other Moms in the relaxed setting of Mom and Baby classes. Alexi is always interested in creating fun and effective workouts that feel good and strengthen. She loves to share and explore the benefits of Pilates and can otherwise be found running about after her own two small children!
